Happy 6th Birthday Suri Cruise!

Name: Suri Cruise

Date of Birth: April 18, 2006

Parents: Katie Holmes & Tom Cruise

Siblings: Isabella, 19, & Connor, 17

Facts:
Suri was born at Saint John's Health Center in Santa Monica, Calif.

Suri wasn't seen in public until September 2006 and was first photographed for the October 2006 cover of Vanity Fair, which was incidentally the magazine's best selling issue of all time

Some say her first name means either "princess" in Hebrew, or "red rose" in Persian, while others have said that Suri is a Yiddish form of Sarah. Suri can also be translated into a Hindi boy's name and it means "pointy nose" in some Indian dialects and "pickpocket" in Japanese.

Her second birthday party made headlines when Tom and Katie spent a reported $100,000 on the event. The theme was butterflies, and the lavish cake had an excessive $5,000 price tag alone. Catering cost the couple $45,000 and the sweets didn't end with the cake. Reportedly, $230 was doled out for cupcakes from LA's Sprinkles bakery as well.

Last year, Suri celebrated her 5th birthday with a lavish tea party alongside mom and dad at their Beverly Hills mansion.

Quotes:

"Becoming a mother has been the most amazing experience--in an instant you become strong. You have to be a little bit wiser; it's the most important job you have in the world." - mama Katie on motherhood.

"We like to be together, so we use the house for our [business] meetings. [We] play Yahtzee, board games, Scrabble. We grill; have pool parties. We play 'The Three Little Pigs' and Suri is the Big Bad Wolf. [Tom] reads story books to Suri and we all laugh. When a good song comes on, he'll break into dance. We'll watch movies in bed--recently Madagascar and Cinderella, for Suri. We have a really good time." - Katie on her family.

"She's really such a special girl -- strong and funny. She's her own person. She has a great sense of humor." - Katie on her first born daughter.

"Some of the stuff [people said about Suri] was such absolutely horrible things to say about a child... It was so uncalled for and so disgusting. Enough is enough." - Katie on the rumors that followed Suri's birth.

"My daughter was with me the other day at a work event and it was a long day. I took out some paper and markers that I had in my bag, and someone said to me, ‘Oh, that is so cute,’ and I looked at her and thought, No, this is not cute. This is what all mothers have to do.'" - Katie on what it takes to be a mom.

"It comes down to the same thing as when I was a kid. Can I create a character that will make her happy, that will make [Suri] laugh? And you know what? She makes me get better and better, because she's always asking me to do it again." - papa Tom on his youngest daughter's ability to make him a better person.

"I'll never forget the moment I became a dad. But it's hard to describe -- that level of responsibility, the desire to give such joy. The clarity: Nothing is more important than this." - Tom on fatherhood.
