Although Flavio Briatore is Leni's biological father, he has never been involved in her life. Heidi's ex-husband Seal was present for Leni's birth and Heidi has stated emphatically that "Seal is Leni's father"

In December 2009, Seal officially adopted Leni and her last name was changed from Klum to Samuel
